Caregiver Work Permit and Immigration Pathways
Work in Canada as a Caregiver and Explore Immigration Options
Looking to work in Canada as a caregiver? Depending on your occupation, employer, location, and immigration status, you may qualify for a temporary Work Permit or an applicable immigration pathway.
At G Square Immigration, we help caregivers understand their options, assess eligibility, prepare documents, and complete their applications correctly.
What Are Caregiver Work Permit and Immigration Pathways?
Caregiver pathways can allow eligible foreign workers to work in Canada as home child care providers or home support workers.
Currently, the Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots for Child Care and Home Support are closed to new applications. Eligible caregivers may still have temporary Work Permit options through the Temporary Foreign Worker Program, including LMIA-based applications.
When Can You Apply as a Caregiver?
You Have Caregiving Experience
Your previous childcare or home support experience may support your application.
You Have a Canadian Job Offer
A qualifying job offer may be required for the applicable caregiver Work Permit pathway.
You Want to Work Temporarily in Canada
Eligible caregivers may be able to obtain an LMIA-based Work Permit through the Temporary Foreign Worker Program.
