Federal Skilled Trades Program
Turn Your Skilled Trade Experience into an Opportunity in Canada
Are you an experienced tradesperson looking to build your career and future in Canada? The Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) is one of the economic immigration programs managed through Canada’s Express Entry system for eligible skilled trade workers.
At G Square Immigration, we help skilled trades professionals understand their eligibility, assess their profile, prepare the required documents, and navigate the Express Entry and permanent residence process.
What Is the Federal Skilled Trades Program?
The Federal Skilled Trades Program is a Canadian immigration pathway for skilled workers who have qualifying experience in an eligible skilled trade and want to become permanent residents of Canada.
The program is managed through the Express Entry system. Eligible candidates can create an Express Entry profile and enter the pool, where they receive a Comprehensive
Ranking System (CRS) score.
Candidates who receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) can then submit their application for permanent residence.
Who May Be Eligible for the Federal Skilled Trades Program?
Experienced Skilled Trades Workers
If you have qualifying work experience in an eligible skilled trade, you may be able to apply through the Federal Skilled Trades Program.
Applicants With Relevant Trade Experience
Your experience must meet the applicable requirements for the skilled trade and the required period of qualifying work experience.
Applicants With Language Skills
You need to demonstrate your ability in English or French through an approved language test and meet the minimum language requirements.
Applicants With a Qualifying Job Offer or Certificate
Depending on your circumstances, you may need a valid job offer or a certificate of qualification issued by a Canadian province or territory.

Prepare Your Express Entry Profile
If you meet the requirements, you can create an Express Entry profile with details about your work experience, education, language ability, and other factors.
