Federal Skilled Worker Program
Build Your Future in Canada Through the Federal Skilled Worker Program
Are you a skilled professional with work experience outside Canada and looking for a pathway to permanent residence? The Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) is one of the economic immigration programs managed through Canada’s Express Entry system.
At G Square Immigration, we help skilled professionals understand their eligibility, assess their Express Entry profile, prepare the required documents, and navigate the permanent residence application process.
What Is the Federal Skilled Worker Program?
The Federal Skilled Worker Program is a Canadian immigration pathway for skilled workers with qualifying foreign or Canadian work experience who want to become permanent residents of Canada.
The program is managed through the Express Entry system. Applicants must meet the program’s eligibility requirements and, if eligible, create an Express Entry profile and enter the pool of candidates.
Your profile may then be ranked using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), and candidates who receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) can submit their permanent residence application.
Who May Be Eligible for the Federal Skilled Worker Program?
Skilled Professionals With Foreign Work Experience
If you have qualifying skilled work experience outside Canada, you may be able to qualify for the Federal Skilled Worker Program.
Applicants With Eligible Work Experience
Your work experience must meet the applicable requirements for the program, including requirements related to the occupation, duties, and amount of qualifying experience.
Applicants With Required Language Skills
You need to demonstrate your ability in English or French through an approved language test and meet the required language level.
Applicants With Suitable Education
Your education can contribute to your eligibility and CRS ranking. If your education was completed outside Canada, an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) may be required.
How Does the Federal Skilled Worker Program Work?

Check Your Eligibility
We review your age, education, work experience, language ability, and other factors to determine whether you may qualify.

Complete an Approved Language Test
You need valid language test results in English or French that meet the applicable program requirements.

Obtain an Educational Credential Assessment
If required, your foreign education credentials must be assessed by an organization approved for immigration purposes.

Create Your Express Entry Profile
Eligible candidates create an Express Entry profile and provide information about their personal background, education, work experience, and language ability.

Enter the Express Entry Pool
Once your profile is accepted into the pool, you receive a CRS score and are ranked against other candidates.

If you receive an Invitation to Apply, you can submit your permanent residence application with the required supporting documents.
